Sunday, March 29 (2 Months and 2 Weeks young):

I know this blog is about 2 months overdue, but hey, better late than never right? :)

It’s amazing that its already been more than two months since Tyler came into our lives.  George and I are truly blessed with the perfect baby. She’s already sleeping through the night! From day one, she was as easy as a newborn can be. She loves to smile and am always aware of her surroundings. I am really going to miss her when I have to go back to work in a couple of weeks. :(

Saturday, April 11 (2 Months and 4 Weeks young):

Sigh. This is the last weekend of my maternity leave. I can’t believe time has flown by so quickly. Next week, Tyler will be 3 months old!!! She is really growing up fast. In the last couple of weeks, she’s discovered her voice and loves to talk to whoever will listen to her, especially her dad. It’s so cute. She’s also getting really good at holding up her head and doesn’t mind tummy time when she’s on her boppy pillow, which I consider the “cheating way.” Haha…

One bad thing is that she’s developed Thrush. I feel like such a bad mom. Thrush is a type of yeast infection that babies usually get in their mouths. :( The good thing is she doesn’t seem to be bothered by it. We took her to her pediatrician Dr. Powell, and he prescribed her some med that we have to coat her mouth with every few hours.  Blech.

Anyway, we’re really trying to take more pictures and videos of her. But the cameras just never seem to be within reach whenever she does something picture/video worthy! Once I go back to work, we’re going to try and set-up an IP camera so that I can check in on her from time-to-time. Man, just the thought of leaving her makes me want to burst into tears. :(

Sunday, April 19 (3 months young)

Our little Tyler is 3 months old! Can you believe it?! Last week, we went to visit Dr. Powell for her 3 months check-up and her stats are:

Height: 24.75 inches (95th percentile)

Weight: 15lbs (97th percentile)

Head cirumference: 41cm (75th percentile)

She’s definitely getting bigger and eating a lot more. We just have to make sure she stays porportional and not let her weight get too far ahead. Hehe. Speaking of food, in a couple of weeks, we’re supposed to start feeding her a little bit of rice cereal once a day to get her used to eating solids and practice how to swallow.  Can’t wait! I don’t know why, but I get all excited everytime we reach a milestone in her development. Even the most basic things like eating…guess that’s just what gives parents a sense of accomplishment whenever their babies master a new skill or talent.

My first week of work also came and went. It was relatively painless and tear-free. It wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. Not that I needed a break from Tyler or anything, but I guess being away from her for a few hours everyday  is good for both me and her. Wouldn’t want her developing any sort of codependency issues or anything…and me too. Ha! Last thing I want is to become one of those moms who can’t let go of their kids…heh.

Thursday, April 30 (3 months and 2 weeks young)

Sorry for the lack of posts lately…Tyler’s been feeling a little poopie. :( She developed a cough a week ago, and is just starting to feel better. Sigh. So sad to hear her coughing…but she’s such a trooper! Still smiling and laughing away. What a great baby.

George went back to work this week part time. So on the days that both of us are at work, Tyler gets dropped off at the Dodge house for my parents to look after. Thank goodness for them! Otherwise, I don’t know what we’d do…we’re still on the waitlist for several daycares in the area.  I am a little thankful that we haven’t enrolled her in any of them yet, especially with the whole swine flu pandemic going around. We’re going to keep her AND ourselves indoors as much as we can.

Tuesday, May 12 (3 months and 4 weeks young)

Tyler flipped over today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This morning while George and I were getting ready for work, we put her on her tummy on our bed and the next thing I knew, I looked over and she was on her back! So I ran over and pulled out our little Flip camera and told her to do it again..and SHE DID!!!

Monday, June 15  (5 months young)

I’ve decided to update this on the 15th of each month since that would mark the day that Tyler turns one month older. We’ll see how long I can keep it up. :) Tyler had her 5 month check up with Dr. Powell this week. Based on her height and weight, he told us she’s the average size of a 9 month old! She’s a very healthy 17 lbs. and 27 inches tall. She can flip back and forth, and can almost sit on her own! In a couple of weeks, we’re going to start feeding her different kinds of solid foods…I can’t wait! I bet she’ll turn out to be a foodie just like her dad.

Monday she’ll start her first day at day care. I think it’ll be tougher on me than on her…just the thought of dropping her off to some strangers makes my heart twinge with guilt. Sigh. But George and I keep reminding ourselves that it’ll be good for her to be around a lot of people. Let’s hope we’re right.  But, we’re very fortunate to have my parents as back up in case the day care doesn’t work out. They’ve already assured us that they’re willing to watch her full time if we ever needed them to…so that’s a big relief. :)

It’s amazing how much she learns and develops in just a mere couple of weeks. I can’t wait to find out what’s in store for us next…

Wednesday, July 15  (6 months young)

I can’t believe my little Tyler is 6 months old already.  She can now sit on her own–with a little help. :) She grabs at toys, sucks on her fists, and licks her toes, too! She wakes up every morning with a big smile on her face, and proceeds to ‘talk’ to us as if telling us about all of her dreams from the night before. She’s also very close to crawling. She sticks her butt up in the air and digs her head into the mattress, all the while, her arms flap on each side. It really is a sight to see, I’ll have to catch her in the act some time. As for food, she’s still drinking close to 7 oz four to five times a day and have also started eating ’solids.’

This last month has been very eventful for our little girl. We started her at day care Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays…but then after the first day, George and I decided it wasn’t for us. So we pulled her. Now she’s home with grandma and grandpa all day long. It’s not that Tyler was having a hard time at day care, in fact, she adjusted surprisingly well. But it just didn’t meet our expectations. Plus, how can you beat staying home with grandma and grandpa? :D So we decided that we’ll wait until she’s a little older, can walk and communicate, before we try again. By then, I’m sure grandma and grandpa will appreciate the break.

Milestones to look forward to:

Sits on her own

Repeats ‘mama’ or ‘dada’

Crawling!

Saturday, August 15  (7 months young)

Tyler is officially 7 months today. She’s had many milestones this month. She can sit up on her own now with no help. She’s starting to eat more solids. She’s even crawling around like a pro! But with the good, also came the bad…she suffered through her first viral infection with a fever of 102 for 2 days and a sore throat. But through it all, she was such a good girl. I felt incredibly guilty during this period, because unknowingly, I let her cry it out a couple of nights with her sore throat. :( She did finally learn to put herself back to sleep. She now sleeps about 11 hours a night. She promptly goes to bed at 7:30 p.m. and wakes up in the mornings at around 6:30 a.m. But even when she wakes up, she’ll play by herself in her crib for awhile…periodically peering at us through her crib rails to see if we’re awake yet. :) It’s hilarious. She’s also starting to experience a little separation and stranger anxiety. I was told that this is actually a good thing because it shows that her brain is developing and she’s learning to recognize familiar faces and things. It’s still pretty sad to see her face fall when she thinks she’s surrounded by people she doesn’t know. I can’t believe how fast our little girl is growing up. Before you know it, she’ll be a year old, and no longer a baby. But in my heart, she’ll always be my little baby. :)

Milestones to look forward to:

Says “dada”

Pulls herself up to standing position

Sits herself up from lying down

Eats finger foods

Hi Joyce, I wonder if Asian babies typically have bigger than average heads at birth. My little Ethan had a big head but at his last check-up it’s been more so around 50%. funny. His height is still hovering above 90% as well. So if Tyler is looking for a taller Asian surfer cutie in 20 years, let me know. ;) hahaha
